Vikings host Hot Cowboys Squad

Vikings Defense is key for a win

The Dallas Cowboys (10-1, 1st NFC East) will come into US Bank Stadium looking to do something no other Cowboys team in history has ever done, record their 11th straight victory.  For the Minnesota Vikings (6-5, 2nd NFC North) their defense, which is ranked fourth best in the league, will be the key to victory.

Zimmer Up against Cowboys as a head coach for the first time

Former Cowboys Defensive Coordinator Mike Zimmer leads the Vikings and their defense, one of the best in the league, has yet to allow a hundred vikings-4yard receiver this season.  The Vikings rank third in the NFL against the pass (206.8 yards per game) and fourth in overall defense (307 yards per game). Opponent quarterbacks are completing only 57.9 percent of their passes against the Vikings, third best in the NFL, and are operating at a 74.3 efficiency rate, second best in the league. The Vikes have also allowed the fifth fewest passing touchdowns (13) and have the third-most interceptions (12).

Vikings lose 4th straight

Cardinals fly into US Bank Stadium to take on Vikes

The Minnesota Vikings (5-4, 2nd NFC North) have very little time to turn things around and stay above .500.  While there is still time to take over the weak NFC North, there is no more time for a struggling offense that was locked out of the end zone in the second half last week against the Redskins.

vikings-3The Cardinals (4-4, 2nd NFC West) are coming off  a 23-20 win over the San Francisco 49ers. While not the most potent team in the league but the contest between Sam Bradford and Carson Palmer should be most interesting.

The Vikings will have to again use a patchwork offensive line but in the end they cannot use that as an excuse for not executing.

“It’s one of those things where we can’t make excuses,” guard Alex Boone said. “We can’t sit there and say, ‘Well, this guy’s new to me, this guy’s new to me, I don’t know how he’s going to play.’ That just doesn’t jibe in this league anymore. It’s going to be on us as an offensive line to pick things up quick this week.”

Vikings open preseason against Bengals on the road

The preseason is less than two months away and the Minnesota Vikings will be taking their show on the road for the first two preseason games, against the Bengals and the Seahawks before they return for the final two preseason games at home against the San Diego Chargers and the LA Rams.

The fact that the  Vikings made the playoffs last season for the first time since the 2012 season is an acknowledgement of the plan GM Rick Speilman and Head Coach Mike Zimmer have implemented is working.  Getting better through the draft and free agency, the Vikings are poised to take the NFC North again in 2016.

Vikings set at Receiver position

The Minnesota Vikings have completed their preseason with a perfect 4-0 record with victories over the Raiders, Cardinals, Chiefs and last night, the Tennessee Titans.  One thing is certain of this preseason…the Vikings are deep at the receiver position.

While it is certain that receiver Jerome Simpson has been suspended for the first three games of the season in response to a drunken driving arrest last November, the team still has Greg Jennings, Cordarrelle Patterson, Jarius Wright, Adam Thielen, Kain Colter and Rodney Smith.

The Vikings open the regular season on the road against the Rams.  Great seats and cheap tickets are still available so be sure to get yours now and cheer on your Minnesota Vikings.
